A Pioneering Approach to Collaboration
Our team, led by Diarmid de Burgh-Milne, has been at the forefront of the development of collaboration, pioneering multiple ways of working in new sectors. We helped introduce Partnering and then alliancing into the construction industry, the Water sector, taking Welsh water from Partnering in AMP 2 to a model alliance in AMP3, with a saving of some 60%. We led the first Nuclear collaboration, the Fuel Partnership between Nuclear Electric and BNFL which saved some £2.8B; we pioneered collaboration with regulatory bodies such as the Environmental Agency, the Nuclear Inspectorate and the SRA and DfT. We led the development of collaborative working in the rail infrastructure industry and then the collaboration between Network Rail (then Railtrack) and the Train Operators, helping establish the first Partnership over 15 years ago. At the same time, we started to influence the housing sector, highways and roads and then helped develop the collaboration on St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London hospitals.
Concurrently with that pioneering work, our collaborative principled negotiation package was being rolled out globally to Firmenich, Ares Serono and Phillips
